Subject: Emergency Notification Test November 28

In the event of a fire, earthquake, or other emergency, you'll want to know as soon as possible if the campus is closed, or if you need to evacuate or take shelter. On November 28, the Institute will test a new notification system by contacting each Caltech student, faculty, and staff member via home and work landline phones, cellular phones, e-mail, and text message.

Please ensure that you receive the notification by updating your contact information at access.caltech.edu. Log in with your access.caltech user name and password, and then go to "My Personal Information." Click on the "Addresses and Phones" tab. For assistance, call 395-3500 or email help@caltech.edu.

Caltech contracted with Connect-ED almost a year ago, and we are pleased with its flexibility, which will allow us to contact the whole campus or only a small segment, such as those who work in a single building or quadrant of campus.

Our first test of the emergency communications system this summer was extremely successful. That test went out to employees only; this will be the first test for the entire campus community.

Please enter your contact information today to ensure that you will be contacted for this test and in the event of an actual emergency.
