Threat Against the Campus Community - March 29 Update

We would like to reinforce the actions that we have taken and will continue to take to protect the health and wellbeing of the community:
- There is no evidence of an immediate threat to campus.
- The online threat is concerning and we take this report seriously.
- Caltech Security and the Pasadena Police Department have increased patrol presence on
- campus and are actively monitoring the situation to continue to support the health and safety of
- our students and employees.
- Security personnel are checking entryways to ensure that doors remain shut and buildings are
- accessible via key or card access only
- Security personnel are regularly checking the IDs of individuals on campus
- Caltech Security continues to partner with the Pasadena Police Department and FBI in their
- investigation of the matter.
- Caltech Security has and will continue to share all information or tips received in the event that
- the information is helpful to law enforcement's' investigation.
- The local and federal law enforcement agencies are working to identify the individual who
- posted the threat, and to determine their immediate location.
- In the event that we receive additional information, we will provide further updates to the
- community via email.
- If we believe that this incident, or any other, has become an immediate threat or that there is
- immediate danger to the campus community, you will be notified through the Everbridge
- emergency notification system and instructions will be provided there.
- If you see anything concerning or have any relevant information about this threat, call Security
- immediately at extension 5000 from any campus phone or 626-395-5000 from any off-campus
- phone.
